Updated: November 4, 2026
Instagram now lets some creators upload horizontal videos up to 90 minutes long. The format is called Features, and it is still a test, so most accounts do not have it yet. Below you will find what it is, who can use it, how it connects to your Reels, and how to get ready even if the button has not shown up for you.
What are Instagram Features?
Features are long, horizontal videos that live on a creator's profile. Instagram head Adam Mosseri and product VP Tessa Lyons announced the test on October 26, 2026 (9to5Google). Instagram is aiming them at video podcasts, interviews, comedy specials and narrative series (Android Headlines).
The key points:
- Length: up to 90 minutes.
- Format: horizontal (landscape), unlike vertical Reels.
- Clips: you can link up to eight short clips to one long video, according to TheWrap. A viewer watching a Reel can tap through to the full episode without leaving the app.
- TV: Instagram wants these videos watched on its TV app too, which runs on Samsung, Fire TV and Google TV, with Apple TV expanding in the U.S. (Dexerto).
Who can upload 90-minute videos right now?
Only selected creators. TheWrap reports the test started with creators in Brazil and is now reaching select U.S. creators. Early names include podcast host Emma Grede, beauty creator Monet McMichael and sports interviewer Donald De La Haye. Instagram plans to expand the test to many more U.S. creators, but there is no date for a full rollout.
If you do not see the option, nothing is wrong with your account. You simply are not in the test yet.
To check, update the Instagram app and tap the plus button to create a new post. Test features usually appear as a new upload option or a short pop-up explaining the format. If you manage a business or creator account, also look in your professional dashboard, where Instagram often announces new creator tools first. Access is account by account, so a friend may see it before you do even if you live in the same country.
Can you make money from Features?
Not in the way YouTube creators do. Instagram has no built-in ad revenue share for Features yet. Creators can keep their own brand deals on these videos, and Instagram is paying some test creators directly while it works on bonuses and brand partnership tools (Android Headlines). If your goal is income, think of Features as a way to win sponsors, not as a payout program. Our guide to getting Instagram brand deals covers that side.
How Features change the way growth works on Instagram
The format is built as a funnel. Reels get discovered by new people, and long videos turn them into real fans. That makes your short clips more important than before, not less.
Here is a simple example. A cooking creator posts a 40-minute horizontal video of a full dinner menu. They cut five 30-second Reels from it: the hardest step, a mistake, the final plate, a quick tip and a funny moment. Each Reel links to the long video. Someone who finds the "mistake" clip on Explore can tap once and watch the whole thing.
If your Reels already get views but few profile visits, fix that before thinking about long videos. Our guide on getting Instagram views but no followers walks through the usual causes.
How to prepare before you get access
Start recording horizontally
If you film podcasts, tutorials or vlogs, record a horizontal master version now. Cut vertical Reels from it. When Features reach you, you will have a library ready.
Plan clips as part of every long video
Write down three to five moments that work alone before you film. Strong clips open with the result or the conflict in the first two seconds.
Use Series thinking
Instagram is also testing Series, a way to group episodic Reels on your profile, with U.S. testing expected by late 2026 or early 2027 (Dexerto). Shows with a clear name and episode numbers fit both formats. YouTube creators are doing the same with episodes, as we explained in our Shorts Series guide.
Build your follower base now
Features will likely reach established creators first, as most Instagram tests do. A bigger, active audience gives your long videos a better start when they arrive.
If you use an SMM panel
Many creators use an SMM panel to give new content a first push. That can still make sense with Features, if you keep it realistic.
- Boost the clips, not only the long video. Your Reels are the entry point. Reels views plus a smaller number of likes and saves on your best clip is a better match for this format than buying views on a 90-minute video.
- Do not expect views services to work on long videos yet. Most Instagram views services are built for Reels. Features are new, and no provider can confirm delivery on them yet. If you try, start with a very small order.
- Choose gradual delivery. A slow, steady start looks more natural than thousands of views in an hour, and it is easier to check whether your content holds attention.
- Pick refill-eligible followers. If you add followers to prepare for Features, choose a service with a refill window so drops are covered. Our refill guide explains how it works.
- Keep content first. Bought engagement can help a good video get noticed. It cannot make people watch for 40 minutes. Follow Instagram's rules, and do not expect any service to guarantee reach or sponsors.

FAQ
How long can Instagram videos be now?
Creators in the Features test can upload horizontal videos up to 90 minutes. For everyone else, normal Reels limits still apply.
How do I get Instagram Features?
You cannot sign up. Instagram picks test creators, currently in Brazil and the U.S. Keep your app updated and check your upload options.
Are Instagram Features the same as IGTV?
No. IGTV was a separate vertical video app that Instagram shut down. Features are horizontal, linked to Reels clips, and designed for TV screens as well as phones.
Do Features pay creators?
There is no ad revenue share yet. Creators can use their own brand deals, and Instagram is paying some test creators directly.
Should I stop making Reels?
No. Reels are how people find your long videos. With Features, good clips matter even more.
Can I buy views on a 90-minute Instagram video?
It is not confirmed that views services work on Features yet. Boosting the linked Reels is the safer choice for now.
Conclusion
Features are Instagram's clearest move into long video since IGTV, and this time it is tied to Reels. You do not need access to get ready. Film horizontally, plan clips for every long video, and grow the audience that will watch when the format reaches you. When you want to give your best clips a push, our Instagram services list delivery speed and refill details for each option.
